Trip Overview

Snake River Water Trail (snakeriverwatertrail.org)

Actually started at King Hill which is not part of SRWT. This section (King Hill - Glenn’s Ferry) had the only water you had to watch for hydraulics/tricky parts & none of them were significant. This section was just over 8 miles.

Glenn’s Ferry Boat Dock is actual start of SRWT, but instead of stopping there, we kept going about 1 mile & pulled out at 1st cabin of 3 Island State Park. No dock, but fairly easy to haul boat up steep bank. If you follow the road, there are picnic tables in the shade & restrooms.

Glenn’s Ferry - Hammett boat dock had no tricky water spots. There was less current so it took steady paddling to keep near the 4mph speed. Many in our group could not keep that pace so we slowed down to ~3mph. Hammett Boat Dock comes up on the right. There are many nice houses w/ great private docks before it. It is plain & DEFINITELY missable if you don’t know what you are looking for. There is no shade or tables there, but there is a restroom. This part was just over 9 miles.

We used the Pacer App to be able to track our mileage & see the shortest way around the several islands in this stretch. I highly recommend it.

Gear Notes

Bring lunch so you can picnic at 3 Island State Park. Take tons of water. There are no pull outs or services between the main boat docks. There are no stores at the boat docks.

Conditions

6000 cfs; 10-12mph wind; 4mph avg speed; ~17.5 miles; 75-100 degrees
