Plenty of choice here, head upstream, Ducks Hospital, SE to Hindmarsh island, barrages and reed beds, head downstream into Finnis river complex; channels, reeds.

Plenty of bird life, many varieties. Look out for the Rakali, native water rat.

Multiple launch points; Clayton, old Clayton, Finnis.

Generally prevailing SE wind, can be strong and persistent. Shelter can be found with clever choice of location and travel direction/s. Calmer conditions can be found behind headlands or amongst reed channels

Beware of snakes, Tiger snake and Red Bellied black, both are well tooled, especially the Tiger. Do not strike at with paddle, you may have an unwanted passenger, if seen, paddle away.
