I bought a used Cruiser twenty-some years ago and was originally looking to buy a OT Canadienne. So I headed down to the Chicagoland Canoe Base to see if I could talk to Mr. Canoe about it. Sure enough, there he was pounding hot steel in back and he dropped what he was doing and came over and talked hull shape for an hour or so...most fascinating! Long story short, his hull design for the Canadienne was taken from a battleship hull design and he said if I couldn't afford a Canadienne that I should buy a Sawyer Cruiser because if was the same hull shape with less freeboard but still an excellent boat. I followed his suggestion and am still enjoying my Cruiser... and yes, I own a Canadienne as well. Thank you Ralph Frese!
