Always wear your leash and PFD when paddling in the spring, and stick to sheltered coastal routes to avoid unpredictable extreme weather. Always dress for the cold water temperatures, and pack an extra set of dry clothes. Drop to your knees when winds and waves increase, and always pack a dry bag with essentials. Share your float plan, and find various beaches and launch locations for breaks along your route.

Some of the most important information you need to check in a weather forecast before paddling includes the wind speed and direction, UV index, and chance of precipitation. Air temperature is an important factor, but you must also check the water temperature when planning what to wear while paddling. When paddling in ocean waters, check the tide and waves forecast. If there is a severe weather warning, don’t paddle.

With its accessible price point and strong Amazon presence, Niphean inflatable SUPs are often grouped with budget-friendly brands, valued more for convenience than performance. The Pro series aims to shift that perception. Building on the easygoing nature of its Classic line, the Niphean Pro All-Round 11’ 6” introduces upgraded construction, more thoughtful design, and a clear push toward better on-water capability.

Someone’s selling a 21-foot Northwest Kayaks Synergy LV. An online search (including this site) turned up little to nothing about it. Does anyone have experience with or know of it? I read that some Northwest Kayaks have issues with leaking; I asked the seller, and was told this one is okay in that regard. This seems like a huge kayak, though that would indulge my pack-ratty self when camping! OTOH, all else the same, a big kayak is a heavy kayak and they have to be transported. I’m relatively new to kayaking. I’ve taken an excellent introductory course (through the Mountaineers in the Seattle area), but yet have much to learn and experience to gain. I currently use a 17’ Valley Skerray.
