Any re-entry type of rescue, whether a solo effort or assisted, can be taxing on the capsized paddler - sometimes to the point of near exhaustion. Using a stirrup recovery technique can literally give you one leg up on being able to re-enter your boat.

In this video, Rob Stehlik of Blue Planet Surf goes over some of the earliest records of humans standing up while paddling, a short history of SUP surfing in Hawaii, also know as Beach Boy Surfing, and how modern stand up paddleboarding and SUP surfing has become so popular worldwide.
